Saint Asonia Adam Gontier (lead vocals/guitars), Mike Mushok (guitars), Corey Lowery (bass) and Rich Beddoe (drums) –  release today their self-titled debut album via RCA Records. It was produced by Johnny K (Disturbed, Megadeth..).
From the beginning , you have the sense there’s something different. The lead single Better Place reflects everything the band has to offer : raw and organic music, shockingly original which is not obvious in the abyss of oversaturated rock market, a vivacious groove with a thrilling feeling of freedom in the deliverance. Saint Asonia take the listener on an engaging journey via tracks that are relatable, real and passionate.

Stylistically diverse, the songs are well crafted, often very beautiful, lyrically direct and full of sincerity with rich musical landscapes and emotional depth . The lyrics are a heartfelt reflection on Adam Gontier ‘s  life. The natural melodies will transport you to your own experiences. Finally, we discover the real Adam. His delivery is utterly different from his previous work. Staind guitarist Mike Mushok’s punchy guitar work brings the perfect complement.

It will only take a few seconds before you get goosebumps on the  rock ballads Waste My Time, Even Though I Say and Trying to Catch Up With the World.   For those of you who follows Adam’s career, you had not forgotten this lovely song  Trying To Catch Up With the World, heard on his facebook a few years ago, slightly different from original but always so lovely. Glad to see it on the album. Just a few moments before you want to hit the road  with Leaving Minnesota.

The odyssey is an entire ride. It goes through different moods. Kind of Nothing drifts into heavier territories. It’s got an aggressive vibe. It is one of louder moments on the album. Blow Me Wide Open is an instant anthem. Let me Live my Life is at once, gritty and angry. It is a definite standout on the album, extremely catchy that  has a dark feel , blasting furiously, the music echoing the lyrics. Top-notch guitar solo . Fairy Tale is another highlight. Harmonious verses/guitar riffs. Dying Slowly is emotionally intense  while there is so much soul and depth on the vocals  on Happy Tragedy, that ’s incredibly stirring.

All in all, Saint Asonia is a fusion of different bands, that manages to blow you away with their originality, a sound at once raw, gritty and emotionally true. It is an eclectic work, very promising for the future.
